Activated Carbon has been in use for air purification and odor removal processes for centuries. Due to the high surface area of Activated Carbon the unwanted molecules in the air are adsorbed and trapped in the pores of carbon. ACPL manufactures high grade Virgin and Impregnated Activated Carbon for adsorbing dioxins, mercury and heavy metals from flue gases. Activated Carbon is a proven adsorbent in waste-to-energy, hazardous waste and clinical waste incineration plants.
Activated Carbon is a proven adsorbent in air purification process. It is used in many industries where air treatment is required. Flue gas cleaning, waste gas treatment, compressor air treatments are some of the applications of Activated Carbon. In the incineration process municipal solid waste, hazardous industrial waste, medical waste and sewage sludge results in the formation of flue gas. These gases, contains dioxins and heavy metals like mercury and cadmium which can be effectively removed by specially designed Activated Carbon.
Scope of Applications of AC:
- Flue gas cleaning
- Municipal solid waste incineration
- Industrial and hazardous waste incineration
- Medical waste incineration
- Sewage sludge incineration

One of the major impacts of industrialization on the environment is the emission of toxic acid gases to the atmosphere. In order to tackle the acid gas contamination in the air, high grade impregnated Activated Carbons are used in several industries all over the world. Acidic agents in the gases can destruct sensitive electronic equipment where it is generated and it is also proved to be destructive to the materials of incalculable value in museums.
ACPL manufactures a wide range of Activated Carbon suitable for acid gas adsorption. Our specially manufactured high grade impregnated carbon is used to remove foul odors emitting from sewage water.
Scope of Applications of AC:
- Hydrogen Sulphide Removal
- Libraries & Museums
- Land Fill Gas
- Corrosive Gas Contamination

Activated Carbon is widely used in room filters to adsorb formaldehyde which is found in carpet, wood paneling and furniture upholstery as these are allergens to those people who experience Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS). Chemicals in household cleaning items and perfumes are removed using Activated Carbon.
Cabin Air Filters which uses Activated Carbon as adsorbent can effectively remove odor, organics, sulfur dioxide, vehicle exhaust fumes and other pollutive gases in the Cabin.
One of the foremost reasons for the protest against nuclear plants is the possibility of breakdown of nuclear power generating plants and its consequences. Collapse of nuclear power generating plants can have far-reaching effects on human beings, animals and environment for centuries. ACPL manufactures high grade impregnated Activated Carbon from coconut shell based charcoal to meet the nuclear applications. We manufacture standard and impregnated carbons to be used in nuclear power stations and tackle air and water contaminations.

Tobacco smoking is an age old habit of human being. Health risks associated with this habit are most adverse. Cigarette smoke is a complex mixture of thousands of compounds. In order to reduce the intake of toxic gases while smoking cigarettes, filters made up of cellulose acetate is used worldwide. Cigarette filters incorporated with Activated Carbon are well known for their selective reduction of many vapour phase smoke toxicants.
Incorporation of activated carbon into cigarette filters is achieved by several methods. Most commonly used designs are multi components filters with a plain cellulose acetate at the mouth end. For dual filters, a filter segment containing Activated Carbon is combined with cellulose acetate.
Activated Carbon made from many carbonaceous materials can be used in manufacturing cigarette filters. Performance of the carbon depends on the pore volume and pore size distribution of the Activated Carbon. Activity of the carbon is increased by oxidation process using steam activation. Steam activated coconut shell based activated carbon is considered as the best material for manufacturing cigarette filters. Coconut shell based activated carbon has the highest micro porosity compared to other types of activated carbon. It also has high degree of hardness and abrasion resistance.
